Why run a Woolworths Cricket Blast - Junior Blasters Program?
Junior Blasters is the entry point of many young kids into your cricket club. The Junior Blasters Program is easy to run. It not only helps to get junior players into your club, but also provides a great opportunity to recruit new volunteers (parents).
Running a Program
Running a Junior Blasters Program is a highly rewarding experience. The Junior Blasters Program is specifically designed to be easy to run by club volunteers with minimal coaching background. State and Territory Cricket Association support is provided throughout the program.
The Blast Crew has been developed to support and ensure that a Junior Blasters program runs smoothly. Parent and volunteer participation is critical in Junior Blasters as it allows Junior Blasters to play in small groups, known as Blast Squads, and gives kids the opportunity to play with their parents & supporters.
There are three distinct roles in the Blast Crew; the Blast Coordinator, the Blast Captains and Blast Helpers.
Blast Coordinator (usually a club volunteer) – 1 per Junior Blasters program
A Blast Coordinator is an organizational whizz! They manage the program administration, liaise with the local cricket club, and organize the Blast Squads, Captains & Crew.
They are responsible for communicating the program information and coordinate session set up and equipment.
Blast Captains (can be club volunteers or parents) - 1 per Blast Squad
• Manage their Blast Squad and facilitate activities and games.
• Encourage Blast Crew participation.
• Assist Blast Coordinator.
Bast Crew (volunteers/parents) – As many as possible
• Help as little or as much as they would like
• Be involved in partner activities
• Parent vs participant activities
During the participant registration, parents are asked which role they are interested in taking on. This information is available to the Blast Coordinator who develops the Blast Crew.
